Years Business Has Been In Progress

Years In Business

How many years have you been in business?
I’ve only been in business for 2 years now

How old is your business?
My business is 3 years old

What is a big success in your business thus far?
My biggest win thus far was registering my business with the city, and receiving my EIN (employer identification number) and Tax ID.

What made you start your business?
I wanted to create a business that not only made wonderful cakes pastries and desserts for everyone, but could be a place to help young professionals perfect their craft.

I created Scratch My Batch Bakery because of my passion, love for baking from scratch, and the way I could make people happy while enjoying a tasty treat.

How much money did you have to start your business?
I believe I started with whatever was in my account at the time and that wasn’t much. I maybe had about $75 bucks to buy decorating supplies and tools and ingredients. That’s was just for my first paid order.

How do people find your business?
My business is on social media:
Instagram: @scratchmybatch
Twitter: @scratchmybatch
Facebook: @scratchmybatch
Email: orders@scratchmybatch.com
Phone: 312-487-1308
Website: www.scratchmybatch.com

How do you market your business for people to build awareness?
I use social media, email marketing, sponsor events and of course word of mouth. I am still learning ways to market my business to my intended target audience.

When you started what sacrifices did you make to move your business forward?
When I started I sacrificed lots of sleep, quality time with my boyfriend, friends and family. I had to cut out things like hanging out, not buying a car right away, spa days, etc.,. I basically sacrificed what I felt was important to me for the benefit of flourishing my business.

Do you have any advice for a budding entrepreneur?
This is YOUR time, its ok if it appears no one understands your journey, guess what? They aren’t supposed to; this journey is for you. Believe in yourself and your talent; celebrate the small victories because if you don’t then how will you appreciate the big ones.

Take care of yourself and learn from your mistakes, don’t beat yourself up! Always pay attention to detail, be in tune with your creativity and trust your skills! You got this!

Where do you see your business in the next year?
Next year I am striving to move along with finding a kitchen home, gaining more catering and cake clients and finally hosting our first tasting/launch party.

What are your goals for the next 5 years in your business?
My goals for the next five years are, continuing to grow the business, becoming a fully functioning online bakery/catering service, and working towards adding a café to our services.

What are the new things people can expect in your business?
I would say people can expect new flavors each season, website updates, new recipe cards for our subscribers, and a few behind the scenes with me (Chef Nikki).

Is there anything you’d like people to know about your business?
Please contact us for your next event, we’d love to cater continental breakfast and/or dessert. We’d also love to create a beautiful custom cake, cake pops and cupcakes for your next dessert table.

Tell us something personal about yourself that you would like us to know:

What is the one thing in your life you can’t live without?
My cupcake bracelet, I wear it with everything. I kind of consider it my lucky bracelet.
